And the little heart did swell ...

Queenlatreesa wrote this beautiful poem. What a gift.

THE BUTTERFLY QUEEN

She was a little caterpillar
With dreams of something more
She met another caterpillar
And out her heart he tore

She went into a tight cocoon
And never wanted out
Friends just kept on a-tapping
But "I CAN'T DO IT!" she would shout

So they spun a warmer covering
With themselves inside
And said "We will never leave you"
And they held her while she cried

As time went on, she felt some strength
Start seeping through her wrap
Her little bod was aching
and no more did she want to nap

She needed to take a peak outside
And stop feeling like a wretch
She asked her friends to remove their net
So she could start to stretch

But the strangest thing did happen
Her little legs were gone!
She couldn't even count on them
How had things gone so wrong??

Her friends stood back in wonder
As she cracked open her door
For they could see something different
That wasn't there before

That little caterpillar
Had had a lot of rest
And though she didn't know it,
She was really at her best

She stumbled out and fell in a heap
While those who stood by her gasped
But she didn't need a helping hand
She could feel her strength at last

She shook her head and tried to move
She felt a warm light breeze
Slowly her body loosened up
But then she had to freeze!

This wasn't the body she had before!
And was this her same old soul?
Had everything changed for her
Might she finally reach her goal?

She stretched herself, and her wings popped out
She asked, "Is this truly me?"
But there really was no question,
As her friends could plainly see

It was she with the same bright eyes
The same sweet smile and the same deep laugh
"How can I be so, so much more,
When I thought I was only half?'

Love shone from every surface
As she spread her wings out wide
She gave a careful flutter
And felt real joy inside

She realized she'd learned a lot
While in her chrysalis
And all she knew she could share--
Not a feeling would she miss

She'd felt them all right in her heart
Joy, emptiness and pain;
love, helplessness and anger--
they'd made her feel insane!

She gathered her friends under her wings
And gave them all her knowledge
They laughed, they cried, they loved and grew
As their little fears she did abolish

Then she gave her wings a testing flap
And knew within a moment
She wouldn't need all those little legs
Because a new gift had been sent

She let her power surge right through
And breathed deeply of the air
Then she lifted off into the sky
While her friends uttered a prayer

"Please God give us the strength and faith
To be like this strong great Queen
She's taught us more about love and power
Than we have ever seen

Let us remember that life is real--
(but not all the little dramas);
To live each moment with awe and wonder
So we'll rally when there're traumas

Remind us that when times are tough
This Queen has shown us all
That somewhere there's an outline
of a door within that wall

Thank you God for this gift
that we all call "Our Heather"
She is the most amazing Queen
And in our lives our own true treasure."

So when you need her, she'll be there
The best friend there's ever been
And I know that you'll be thinking
"Thank you, Butterfly Queen"

I am doing my best to find the good things in my life and cherish them. I love deeply. I laugh hard (so hard I sometimes snort). I still dream and believe that dreams are meant to be followed. I try to depend on God. I have so much to learn. I hope.
