Glass slippers peeping under stall doors ...

Running late as usual for volunteering at the Y babysitting I rushed out of the locked-down room to use a toilet that is not a half a foot off of the ground (translation: to use a toilet I can get up off of!) I opened the door to find myself waist deep in princesses and superheroes.

"Oh my, well hello there"
"Hi! I am a princess"
"I am Cinderella"
"I am the fairy godmother"
"Well you all look fabulous!"

So there I am doing what you do in a stale and underneath the door pops a perfect little girl foot in a perfect little plastic, oops I mean glass, slipper. The sad thing ... the slipper was about an inch too big for her perfect little foot. And as little things often do, this got me to thinking about how very appropriate an image that is. That life never really does work out like in the fairy tales. But you know what? That little girl, with her perfect little feet could have cared less if the slipper fit. You could see in her eyes that she was just as much of a princess as Jasmine beside her. I like to think that little girl knows her innate worth and that we are raising our girls to believe that although life can be brilliant with the right man, that they don't need a man to be brilliant. It was not her feet that were too small, it was the slipper that was too big. She is perfect that way she is.

I just need to say that thanks to a very sweet friend I am know the proud owner of an Avon reindeer named Caroline ... AND it has suctions on its furry back! I could almost taste Christmas.

I am doing my best to find the good things in my life and cherish them. I love deeply. I laugh hard (so hard I sometimes snort). I still dream and believe that dreams are meant to be followed. I try to depend on God. I have so much to learn. I hope.
