Pizza, pizza, and more pizza ...

I am in a bright red room with bean bags and a wall filled with pictures of past travelers at a hostel in Naples. For getting to meet people and community this hostel has been the greatest. We were immediatly known for climbing the seven flights with our packs as after getting stuck in a lift in Rome Sarah now has a little phobia of them.
The last day and night in Rome was filled with those special moments that just fall into place. Sarah and I shopped and I got a fabulous fitted red dress and a very unique wrap. So you will be glad to know that I now have special clothes that are not from Paris. I saw the Collisium and the Roman Forms which were both mind boggling in their detail and grandeur. I would have to say the the stories are my favorite. I tried to imagine how they would flood the collisium to create sea-scapes.
I found Sarah a couple hours lader lost in her Harry Potter book and had to watch her sitting there under a huge tree in Rome reading for just a little while.
We ended up at the top of the building that the tomb of the forgotten (lost) soldier is guraded at. And good thing we did because we found this cafe with an amazing view of the old city. We had a huge flute of tender little strawberries and a huge juicy tomatoe sliced up with generous slices of mozza and basil sticking out like a fan. As Sarah finished her book I read about the History of Rome, people watched, and took in the view. We next walked a million miles to a Gelati shop we read about in the LP ... it was brilliant and the home made brilliance that makes you giggle. We each had four, yes four flavors. The watermellon had seeds it was so freash! We caught an amazing sunset ... well amazing because it was the first one I have been able to see ... at the top of this hill overlooking a lush forest. I found my Rome park!
We were off to Naples yesterday with a little wonder if we were brave adventurers or crazy niave canadian girls. The guidebooks talk about crime and mafia activity. We were fine, although our canadian roomate got robbed really bad. We met a hillarious and sweet young texan in the middle of the worst trip of his life. He had thrown in the hat and was trying to get home, seeing a couple big things along the way. We laughed really hard with him and immediatly had some good inside jokes. We ended up joining him in the Ruins of Pompei. Pompei was covered by a volcano erupting and has since been excavated. It was a huge city and it was really neat because you could just explore.
Then the Pizza ... following LP we went to this small hole in the wall and had our tummies filled with Naples authentic yumminess. We watched as they made the pizza and threw it in the oven. The ball-bellied guy at the cash was sleeping and the godfather was walking the place ... I am sure! They only serve the two kinds but they were packed by the time we finished up. And ... giggle, giggle ... we joined the hostel group at the other famous pizzaria for our third pizza in a matter of three hours. We surely waddled home to pass out in our cozzy room.
I will leave you with the image of a middleaged business man in full business attire whizzing down the street with a hilter-tilter helmet covering one eye.
I will not be sad to leave Naples ... it is quite dirty, loud, and a little unerving.
We are on the ferry to Greece tonight and are both bubbling with excitment. The days are passing too quickly but the memories are growing just as quick.
Miss you all.

Hi H
Imagine that, I had Pizza for supper last night also. Not as good as yours by the sounds of it. I was exhausted after that 7 flights of stairs with your pack. Your writing is so beautiful. I can picture you in all the adventures you are having, laughing with friends, sitting quietly people watching or reading your book. I am glad you are leaving the "slightly unsafe" area and on to a new adventure. Looking foreward to the next installment of Heather's Great Adventure.
Be Safe and Big long warm hugs.XO

I am doing my best to find the good things in my life and cherish them. I love deeply. I laugh hard (so hard I sometimes snort). I still dream and believe that dreams are meant to be followed. I try to depend on God. I have so much to learn. I hope.
